Dr. David Renné, President of the International Solar Energy Society since 2010, also served as an Operating Agent for the International Energy Agency Solar Heating and Cooling Programme.  He is an Associate Editor for the Solar Energy Journal, and Senior Consultant to Clean Power Research. Until his retirement in 2012, Dr. Renné managed the solar resource assessment activities at the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory NREL.

His opening address is titled Opportunities and Challenges for a 100% Renewable Energy Future.

Tara C Kandpal
, Professor at Centre for Energy Studies, IIT-New Delhi, India. His areas of research interest include Techno-economics of Renewable Energy Systems and Renewable Energy Education and Training. He is presently one of the world’s leading experts in renewable energy education with several publications in this field.

His keynote presentation is titled Renewable Energy Education at University Level: State of the Art and Future Trends.

 

     
Salah Arafa  

Salah Arafa, Professor at American University in Cairo, Egypt. Professor Salah Arafa is a tenured faculty member at the Physics Department, School of Sciences and Engineering of the American University in Cairo (AUC). Arafa's research interest is physics and environmental education. The field research focuses on utilizing natural resources to create eco-friendly communities in the rural villages.

His keynote presentation is titled Community-Based Renewable Energy Education and Training for Sustainable Development.

     
Ari Lampinen  



Ari Lampinen
, Finland. Associate Professor in Renewable Energy, Strömstad Academy. He initiated and co-founded renewable energy education network SOLIS (SOLar energy In Schools) of Finnish high schools. He initiated and co-founded a multidisciplinary Renewable Energy Education and Research Programme of University of Jyväskylä, Finland.

His keynote presentation is titled Dealing with Winner's History in RES-T Education (Renewable Energy Sources in Transportation).

 

     
Gouri Datta  

Gouri Datta, India. Associate Professor at Deshbandhu College, University of Delhi. Former Visiting Scientist at Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi and at Solar Energy Research Centre, Dalarna University, Sweden. She has a special interest in knowledge about the combination of renewable energy and cultural aspects.

Her keynote presentation is titled Old Cultural Aspects on the Sun with Connection to Astronomy, Cosmology, and Utilization of Solar Energy.

     
Anne-Grete Hestnes  

Anne-Grete Hestnes, Norway. Professor at Institutt for byggekunst, historie og teknologi, Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet, and past-president of ISES. She became honorary doctor at Chalmers University in 2005 and received the prestigious Farrington Daniels Award in 2011. Her special area is energy and environment with main focus on efficient energy and solar energy in buildings.

Monica Oliphant  




Monica Oliphant
, AO, Australia, Adj A/Professor University of South Australia and Past President of ISES. She worked 18 years in the electricity supply industry as a Research Scientist in renewable energy and energy efficiency, received an AO in the 2015 Queen’s Birthday Honours List in recognition of her work in Renewable Energy and was named 2016 Senior South Australian of the Year. Her current special areas of interest are Community Power and integration of high penetration variable renewables into the energy mix.

Her keynote presentation is titled Importance of Renewable Energy Education to Counter Growing Media Disinformation, in Some Countries, as Renewable Penetrations Increase.

 

Paulette Middleton  

Dr. Paulette Middleton, is the International Solar Energy Society ISES Board Secretary and Co-Chair of the American Solar Energy Society. Since 2002, she has been providing advice, analyses and education on the complex interrelationships among energy, environment and sustainable living through her company Panorama Pathways, www.panoramapathways.net.

Her keynote presentation is titled Sustainable Living Education: Meaning, Methods, Materials.

     
     
Yogi Goswami  

D. Yogi Goswami, is Distinguished University Professor and Director, Clean Energy Research Center at University of South Florida, USA. He is Chief Editor for the Solar Energy Journal and he was President of the International Solar Energy Society 2004-5.

His keynote presentation is titled Preparing Next Generation Professionals for the 21st Century Solar Energy Industry.
